Meet the Family

Donald J. Parks - email Donald
Donald Parks, President and Founder of Donald J. Parks Inc., has been in the construction and general contracting business all his life. He spent 5 years honing his skills working for another contractor, but Donald envisioned having his own business.

In 1952, he founded Donald J. Parks Inc. and started remodeling residential homes in the Morris County area. Donald worked long and hard to build his business and his reputation for quality workmanship, reliability, and honesty.

With a successful residential remodeling business, Donald sought to further advance his company. He researched "pre-engineered" buildings and quickly realized that this was the wave of the future in building construction.

Donald became the District Sales Manager for Cuckler, a major manufacturer of "pre-engineered" buildings at the time. He traveled throughout the tri-state area selling the idea of "pre-engineered" buildings to developers, contractors, and anyone that would listen. It was a hard sell to many who were raised on brick and mortar construction, but Donald persevered, and he slowly grew sales.

The rest is history. Today, "pre-engineered" buildings are the construction means of choice to developers and contractors.

After 50 years, Donald is still involved with the family business.

When not working, Donald is the father to 4 children, grandfather to 14 grandchildren, and great grandfather to 6 great grandchildren. Donald also enjoys restoring antique automobiles. His collection includes a 1941 Plymouth Sedan, a 1946 Dodge Flatbed Truck, and a 1918 Selden Logging Truck.

Ken Parks - email Ken
Ken joined Parks in 1973. Serving today as Vice President of Donald J. Parks Inc., Ken was born and raised in and around the business and it's only natural that he learned to master his trade from his dad.

Ken served on Varco-Pruden's Regional Advisory Board for 9 years and was also a member of the President's Advisory Council for 6 additional years.

Dave Parks - email Dave
The first of Donald's family to join the business, Dave came on board right out of high school and received most of his construction education on the job from his dad. In addition, Dave fine-tuned his skills while serving his country for 4 years in the United States Navy. One of Dave's fondest memories of Navy life was participating in the commissioning of the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier.

As Parks' Manager of Construction, Dave is involved in the day-to-day supervision of construction projects to ensure quality while maintaining on-time and on-budget delivery.

Dave also serves his community as an Assistant Scout Master with the Boy Scouts. He is married and has 4 children at home.

Clyde Crater - email Clyde
Clyde is like family to the Parks—having been associated with the company for over 44 years. He has seen Donald J. Parks Inc. grow from its humbled beginnings working with Donald Parks building and restoring houses; to watching Dave and Ken join and learn the business; to transitioning the business from residential to pre-engineered buildings and crane operation; to today watching as the 3rd generation of Parks prepare to join the company. Keeping with family tradition, Clyde's son joined Parks in 1978.

When Clyde's not involved in the construction of another building, you can usually find him under the hood of one of his cars. He takes great pride in engine repair and automotive maintenance.
